What kind of opportunities can I promote?

You can use the fair to promote:

  • summer vacation work;
  • paid summer internships;
  • opportunities for students to undertake an expedition, placement or project abroad.

Please note: We always reserve the right to decline to advertise vacancies which we reasonably believe are not to be in the best interests of either students or graduates.  In particular, we are unable to promote unpaid positions that last more than two weeks, (excluding those from registered charities and voluntary organisations and those that constitute part of a sandwich course).

How much time do I have to invest in an online fair?

We've designed our online fairs to ensure that the amount of time involved for organisations is kept to a minimum.

Once booked you will receive access to a dedicated area where you can:

  • upload information about your organisation (a brief description and contact details)
  • list relevant vacancies and opportunities and indicate how you would like people to apply (download an application form, apply online or send a CV)
  • upload answers to frequently asked questions

In addition to this, we have a number of optional activities:

Upload Videos
You can upload video clips to provide an insight into your organisation.

'Ask A Question'
Once the fair goes live your 'Ask A Question' page will be activated.  This allows students and graduates to submit questions to you.  From previous experience we haven't seen an overload of questions for any one organisation, but to ensure that there is no influx we collate all the questions that are asked and distribute these to you in one email per day.  You may not receive an email each day, if the information provided on your profile is detailed then you'll probably find that you receive relatively few questions.  You can also post the answers on your FAQ profile page to ensure that you only ever have to answer the question once.  (You can choose to turn the page off at any time.)

Video Call
If you would like to meet students who have applied then we can arrange a video call through skype at a time to suit you.

On Campus
We can also arrange for you to come onto campus and hold a one-to-one meeting or even give a presentation - charges may apply.

Can you send me the resumes of students and graduates interested in a work placement and/or career with my company?

We can't do this in advance of the Fair taking place.  However, during the Fair participating students will send you their resumes, following application instructions provided by your organisation.

Is there a deadline by which I need to register my organisation?

No there is no deadline.  This is one of the advantages of taking part in an online Fair.  You can submit a booking form at any time, both before and during the Fair.  We'll make sure that your opportunities are listed as soon as possible after the booking form has been submitted.  However, we would encourage any organisation to give themselves as much time as possible to publicise their opportunities amongst our students.

Can recruitment agencies participate in the Fair?

One of the main advantages to students participating in this event is that they have an opportunity to connect with representatives from organisations that they are interested in working for.  Therefore, space at the Fair is only available to organisations recruiting vacancies within their own organisation, unless an agency is handling the recruitment for a named organisation, and the booking is made under that organisations name.

What will I receive when I register to participate in the Fair?

Once you have registered for the Fair you will receive an email confirming your participation.  This email will also contain a link allowing you to upload information onto the website, including your organisation profile, vacancy details and videos.

When will students start to contact me?

The information that you submit to the Fair will be available to students from Monday 9th January 2012 until Friday 4th May 2012.  You can update your profile at any time during this period, adding additional vacancies, or remving those that you have filled.
