Security
Sheffield Universities Recruitment Fairs has an objective policy and will not exclude from campus any employer who works within the law, recognising every student’s right to select their own potential future employers.
Our aim is to support you whilst on campus and we hope these guidelines help to minimise any potential risk.
A) Our responsibility to you includes:
- conducting a risk assessment prior to every fair.
- agreeing procedures in the event of a protest.
PROCEDURES FOR THE SPRING INTO JOBS FAIR ARE: The University security team will be circulating throughout the Fair at all times. If assistance is required to deal with a security issue or an unexpected problem, please dial the security contact centre on 0114 222 4085, stating your location: The Octagon Centre and your stand number. Officers in the venue will then be called to assist you immediately.
- giving due regard to the University Freedom of Speech Code.
- liaising with and seeking advice from the University Security Service.
- sharing information with other AGCAS careers services on patterns of student protest.
- using this good practice with other university contacts e.g. student societies.
B) Your responsibility to us includes :
- conducting a risk assessment for the event.
- notifying the Careers Service of any reason, however remote the issue, why there might be a protest against the organisation.
- checking insurance liability issues in the event of a protest.
- agreeing procedures in the event of a protest with Sheffield Universities Recruitment Fairs, (see above).
- ensuring that your representatives receive a copy of this notice.
- discussing and agreeing with Sheffield Universities Recruitment Fairs if you are intending to use your own security team.
- giving due regard to the University Freedom of Speech Code
- asking any agency working on your behalf to adhere to the above.
- using this good practice with other university contacts e.g. student societies.
Security of Items
The University does not accept any responsibility or liability in respect of loss or damage to any property or equipment brought on to the premises by or on behalf of exhibitors, their servants, agents or invitees. Please ensure your handbags, briefcases, coats and all valuable items are stored out of sight at all times. Exhibitors should report any unattended packages to the organisers or venue staff.
